Calling all junior detectives, curious scientists, and mystery solvers! Something strange has happened, and it’s up to you to figure out what happened. In Funky Forensics Lab, students become investigators and forensic scientists as they work to solve exciting mysteries using science, observation, critical thinking, and hands-on experiments.
Each week brings a brand-new mystery filled with hidden clues, puzzling evidence, unexpected discoveries, and plenty of “aha!” moments. Students will step into simulated crime scenes, investigate evidence, conduct experiments, and piece together the clues to uncover the truth.
Throughout the program, young investigators will explore how real forensic scientists use science and technology to solve mysteries. Students will learn how to carefully observe their surroundings, collect and examine evidence, compare clues, test theories, and use logical reasoning to reach conclusions.
YOUR DETECTIVE TOOLKIT
Get ready to think like a real detective and put your investigative skills to the test! Throughout Funky Forensics Lab, students will have the opportunity to use a variety of tools, techniques, and scientific methods to investigate clues and solve challenging mysteries.
Young detectives will learn how to carefully examine evidence, look for details that others might miss, and use science to help uncover the truth.
Students will:
- Think like a master detective by following evidence, making observations, and connecting clues
- Zoom in on tiny clues using real microscopes to examine evidence up close
- Hunt for hidden objects using metal detectors and investigative techniques
- Use laser light techniques to reveal hidden or hard-to-see evidence
- Investigate mystery substances using hands-on chemical analysis activities
- Examine blood type samples and learn how blood evidence can help investigators
- Break secret codes and decode hidden messages
- Search for fingerprints and other clues that could help identify a suspect
- Compare evidence and determine what clues belong together
- Solve clue-by-clue mystery challenges using logic, observation, and critical thinking
- Build a case by putting together evidence and determining what happened
EVERY CASE IS A NEW ADVENTURE
No two investigations are exactly alike! Each session gives students a new mystery to solve, requiring them to observe carefully, think creatively, work as a team, and follow the evidence.
Students will have the opportunity to take on different roles as they investigate each case, developing important skills such as problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, teamwork, and scientific reasoning.
Whether they are examining evidence, searching for clues, conducting experiments, or presenting their final conclusions, students will be actively involved in the investigation from beginning to end.
