Escape The Crate Beginner I Dog Training
Join Janis Copes, ABCDT, from Escape the Crate, LLC for a fun and informative 6-week beginner dog training course designed to help you become a more confident and effective handler while teaching your dog the skills needed to become a well-mannered family companion.
Using positive reinforcement training techniques, this course will give you practical tools and strategies to better understand your dog and address common behavior challenges, including:
- Housebreaking
- Chewing
- Mouthing
- Jumping on people
- Walking politely on a leash
- And other common puppy and dog behaviors
Skills Your Dog Will Learn
Training will focus on essential commands and good manners, including:
Sit • Down • Come • Stay • Loose-Leash Walking • Appropriate Interactions with People
The goal is to help your dog become a polite, well-behaved, and happy member of the family while giving you the knowledge and confidence to continue positive training at home.
Registration & Requirements
Advanced registration is required. Space is limited to 4 dogs, so early registration is encouraged.
- No refunds will be issued for missed classes.
- Dogs must have a current Rabies vaccination as required by Connecticut State Law.
- Proof of Rabies vaccination must be submitted before the first class.
- No dog will be permitted to attend class without proof of an up-to-date Rabies vaccination.
- Vaccinations for distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and Bordetella are also recommended.
Required Equipment
Participants must bring:
- Flat buckle collar or front-clip harness
- 6-foot leash
- Yummy, high-value treats
Choke collars, prong collars, and e-collars are not permitted.
Important: All registration forms and a copy of your dog’s Rabies certificate must be submitted to the Park & Recreation Office before the first class.
